Report abuse

Found something wrong? Tell us, and we’ll deal with it.

LinkIt hosts websites made by students, at addresses like yourproject.linkitapp.ch. If one of them is a scam, a fake login page, malware, or anything else that shouldn’t be there, this is the place to report it.

You don’t need an account, and you don’t need to know who made it.

Step one

How to report

Send an email to our abuse address:

Check the address in your browser first: if it doesn’t end in .linkitapp.ch, the site isn’t hosted by LinkIt and we can’t take it down.

You can report without giving your name. If you want to hear back, write from an address you read.

Step two

What to include

  • The full address of the page — copy it from the address bar, including everything after the domain. This is the one thing we can’t act without.
  • What is wrong with it — for example “it copies my bank’s login page”, “it downloads a file my antivirus blocked”, “it uses my photos”.
  • When you saw it, roughly.
  • A screenshot, if you can take one safely. Don’t type anything into a suspicious page to get it.

Step three

What happens next

A person reads every report. LinkIt is a student project run by one person, not a company with a support desk — but reports of phishing and malware are handled first. We aim to look at a report within 1-2 days.

  • If it clearly breaks the rules — phishing, malware, illegal content — we take the site offline straight away, without waiting for its owner, and may close their account.
  • If it is less clear, we may contact the student who published it and ask them to explain or fix it, and may ask you for more detail.
  • If you gave us an address, we tell you what we did.
  • We don’t tell the student who reported them unless you say we may, or the law requires it.

What is and isn’t allowed is set out in the terms of use. Child sexual abuse material is reported to the police.

If you were caught

If you already entered your details

Reporting the site helps others; it doesn’t undo anything for you. Do this first:

  • Change the password you typed in — on the real service, by typing its address yourself, not by following a link — and anywhere else you use the same password.
  • If you entered card or bank details, call your bank now. Banks can block a card within minutes.
  • If you downloaded and opened a file, disconnect the device and run a full antivirus scan.

You can also report phishing to the Swiss National Cyber Security Centre at ncsc.admin.ch.

Rights holders

Copyright and other rights

If a site uses your work, your trademark or your personal data without permission, report it the same way. To act quickly we need:

  • the address of the page, and which part of it is yours;
  • what the original is and where it can be seen, or how you are affected;
  • your name and how to reach you, and — if you are acting for someone else — who;
  • a statement that, as far as you know, the use is not permitted.

If your site was taken down

If you published the site and think it was taken down by mistake, write to [email protected] and explain. Your dashboard shows which of your projects have been taken down; a suspended account can’t sign in.
