Cookies
One cookie. It keeps you signed in, and that’s all.
If you never sign in, LinkIt doesn’t put anything in your browser at all.

The short version
LinkIt sets a single cookie, when you sign in, so that you stay signed in. It is strictly necessary, it holds no tracking information, and it is never shared with anyone.
No analytics, advertising or tracking cookies — none.
Inventory
The one cookie
__Host-sessionMore about it:
- It is set only when you sign in, and removed when you sign out.
- It is sent only to LinkIt’s own address — never to the student sites hosted on LinkIt — and the page itself can’t read it (HttpOnly). It is only sent over encrypted connections (Secure).
- It is a first-party cookie: LinkIt sets it, LinkIt reads it, nobody else receives it.
- Signing out, or choosing “Sign out of all devices”, ends it. Signing out also clears an older cookie simply called
session, if your browser still has one from before the current name was introduced.
Nothing else
What isn’t set
- No analytics — no Google Analytics, no visitor counters, no heatmaps.
- No advertising or social-media cookies, pixels or buttons.
- Nothing stored in your browser’s local storage or session storage.
- No third-party scripts on LinkIt’s pages, and the fonts are served by LinkIt itself — so your browser doesn’t contact Google or anyone else when you visit.
Your choice
Refusing or deleting it
You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings at any time. If you block this one, everything public — the home page, the docs, Explore, the sites people publish — still works; you just won’t be able to sign in.
Student sites
Sites hosted on LinkIt
The sites at project addresses are made by students, and they can set their own cookies or load their own analytics. Those are the student’s responsibility, not LinkIt’s, and this page doesn’t cover them. LinkIt’s own cookie is never sent to those sites, and they can’t read it or overwrite it.
